Playlist Mix #19

January 30, 2008

Welcome to PlaylistMix.com! If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to the podcast feed via RSS. Alternatively, subscribe for free via iTunes.. Enjoy!

Playlist Mix #19 featuring JettieAnother Tuesday, another podcast and we’re already into the 4th of 2008 and one step away from show #20. I love the little milestones.

It also means it’s a week since the death of Heath Ledger… still think that’s nuts.

Anywho, there’s another great mix (I think) of bands for you this week with acts spread between the US, Sweden and Ireland. Keep a listen out for Jettie, who’ve just released their new album ‘Kites For Charity’ (looks excellent), while there’s podcast exclusive with ‘Just Dance’ from Scuba Dice at the end of the show.

Also, you might be looking for the winner of the Inner Surge competition (insert drum roll here please)…. Ian Healy bags himself a copy of the album, congratulations to you.

Here’s this week’s playlist

  1. 01:11 - Signal To Noise - ‘The Weather Machine’
  2. 06:05 - Jettie - ‘Sky Over Santa Rosa’
  3. 11:16 - Amy B - ‘Shadow’
  4. 15:27 - Mothers Anger - ‘Heal Me’
  5. 19:16 - Bows & Arrows - ‘Forget All We Used To Know’
  6. 26:27 - Scuba Dice - ‘Just Dance’

Don’t forget - if you enjoy the show, let me know what you think by leaving a comment, or dropping by the MySpace. You can also email tracks and band news to podcast@playlistmix.com for inclusion in future shows.

Playlist Mix #18

January 23, 2008

Inner Surge, featured on Playlist Mix 18Back to podcasting on a Tuesday night and it’s the return of Playlist Mix with show #18, the third of the New Year (and of the month).

Can you believe that Heath Ledger was found dead earlier? There was I thinking we’d have a sweet legacy in the Joker for the new Batman movie, maybe a reappearance in a third movie, but it’s never going to happen now.

Mad really. Just over three years older than myself as well, it’s nuts.

Anyway, this week’s podcast features a blend of downtempo, industrial, rock, reggae and metal tunes - hell of a mix when you think about it. Plus there’s also the Inner Surge CD giveaway where you can bag yourself a copy of of their brand new album ‘An Offering’.

But, the question is in the podcast. I’ll be fair and if you want to get to the question, it’s near the end of the podcast. Answers on a postcard to podcast@playlistmix.com. That’s an old TV joke… send an email with the answer! You get the drift.

Here’s this week’s playlist

  1. 01:21 - Christophe Goze - ‘Our Secrets’
  2. 06:02 - Nigmatic - ‘Amplified’
  3. 10:41 - Citizen Six - ‘Don’t Go To…’
  4. 12:42 - Lady White Noise - ‘Well Enough Unknown’
  5. 19:16 - Mighty Mystic - ‘Heart Of A Lion’
  6. 26:27 - Inner Surge - ‘Halliburton Piggies’

Don’t forget - if you enjoy the show, let me know what you think by leaving a comment, or dropping by the MySpace. You can also email tracks and band news to podcast@playlistmix.com for inclusion in future shows.

The Inner Surge competition closes midnight, Monday January 28th and the CD will be posted anywhere in the world. Envelope is standing by, all it needs is a name!

Playlist Mix Show 17 featuring ArtemisOne of those days turned into one of those weeks and today is once again ‘one of those days’. But - it is time for the 17th Playlist Mix podcast.

Playlist Mix #16

January 9, 2008

Playlist Mix 16 featuring A Thousand Miles From HomeOh it’s good to be back - the first of the 2008 series of podcasts from PlaylistMix.com has arrived.

After a healthy (as in time, certainly not by food or drink consumption) Christmas break and a two week pod-break, it’s time to get right back on the horse and on with the sixth show.

There’s the usual eclectic bag of tunes to pick from this week, going from rock to indie, some trip hop electronica and more with acts coming from Ireland, the UK, the US and beyond. You might also notice that the podcast has a new look website to go with the first podcast of the year as well. A few tweaks to make yet but I hope you like it.

Don’t be afraid to get in touch either - I’m always eager for some feedback on the shows and choice of music. If you’ve someone you’d like to suggest or maybe you want to submit your own music - either fill out the contact form on the site or drop an email my way to podcast@playlistmix.com, simple!

Anyway, this week you’re getting tracks from

  1. 00:24 - New York Fashion Week - ‘Dear Spartacus’

Inner Surge Release ‘An Offering’

January 9, 2008

Inner SurgeInner Surge featured on Playlist Mix #11 towards the end of November with the track ‘No Profit In The Cure’. Have followed the band since the podcast first started (Inner Surge also one of the first acts to get in touch with the podcast), it’s nice to see the release of ‘An Offering’, available now from CDBaby.com and InnerSurge.com.

I bagged myself a copy of the CD today, or at least placed the order for the physical CD. My suggestion is order directly from InnerSurge.com - free shipping. If you’re not into the physical CD itself, you can still make a digital purchase of the album, but to get the 13 track CD, with free shipping, for only CA$10, you can’t go wrong!

Here’s the blurb from the band’s site…

“An Offering” is now available in the “Store” section. No shipping is charged from the official www.innersurge.com store. If you do not want a physical copy of the CD, tracks are available for digital purchase in the “Music” section. Information on the new CD is below.

To those who helped this album come to light; Our fans and everyone who has listened to or contacted us from across the globe, All of our families who have supported us, Shaun Friesen & Free Zen Design, Casey Lewis & Echo Base Studios, Chrys G, all radio shows, podcasts, magazines, websites and individuals who have supported and promoted this band - our heartfelt thanks goes out to you.

To those who resisted or ignored us, the radio who worship the mundane and call it “alternative”, the idol-style voting contests who promote shit music and waste everyone’s time, the bands who place more importance on makeup, choreography and personality cults than songwriting or meaning, the “scene over music” crowd who destroy the individual thinker and praise the mindless herd, and all those who strive to suck the lifeblood out of everything good, Enjoy.

So support independant acts! If you like the music you hear on the podcast, why not reach out and buy a band’s EP or CD. Nine times out of ten the quality is better and the price is cheaper!

New Look For PlaylistMix.com

January 8, 2008

2008 brings with it new beginnings and fresh changes and for PlaylistMix.com, it’s no different.

I like it, think it’s certainly more in keeping with the trend of the podcast as well.

On another ‘New Year’ note, I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year over the festive period. We’re all back to work at this stage and back in the studio this week after the Christmas break so podcast #16 should be winging it’s way to you shortly. Will 2008 see PLM make it to the fantastic number 50 mark? Who knows!

Technically, the podcast turns one year old in March of this year, so let’s get that far first. Don’t forget that if you would like to have your music featured on the podcast, drop an email to podcast@playlistmix.com - one MP3 per email and if you can attach a brief bio as well with links to your own website or MySpace then please do!
